NIL doesn’t bother me nearly as much as these super conferences that have been built. Oregon in the Big Ten? Ridiculous. I bristled at Penn State joining. It’s out of control.

JMO, NIL is way worse. Players very much deserve to get paid for their name, image and likeness: but this way? Scotty Pippen's son hit the portal the DAY that Michigan played in their Sweet 16 game against Auburn during March Madness. Players going from team to team to team each year and hit the NFL Draft at 26 years old? $11 million to pull Underwood away from LSU so he can go to Michigan? College basketball and football coaches are retiring rather than deal with this shit, its nuts. Saban said it was a big reason why he retired from Alabama. Listen, were guys getting paid by alum before NIL? Of course. Story as old as time. But a select few and nothing to this magnitude. There has to be some kind of structure or rules enforced and by somebody else other than the grotesque whores at the NCAA. They had their indentured servants for far too long, but now they've gone to the other extreme.

While great for the players to get paid, NIL and the transfer portal are destroying college sports. There's got to be a better way instead of the free for all going on currently.

There have been smoke signals to cap the NIL spending. It hasn't gone very far, but while I agree with the concept of NIL, there have to be some rules of fairness.
I noticed that the instances of "one and done" in NCAA basketball is mostly a thing of the past, allowing these kids out of high school to stay in school while earning some deserved bucks. That part, I like.
But NIL in general is out of control.

Its all about which team's 'collective' can pull enough money. So these collectives are just like PACs in politics. If you're lucky enough to have some very wealthy alumni then you'll be more than ok.

Which sucks because college sports should not boil down to whomevers boosters can buy the best team
