Vikings in talks with Tannehill - supafreak84 - 03-21-2025

Per Jordan Schultz. Just when I said in the other thread it was strange we haven't signed a QB. My preference would still be Flacoo as a backup

Damn you guys are fast

I am with you on Flacco, the big games and post season experience have to weigh heavier in a qb room and on a young QB in a mentor role than what Tannhill has to offer. compare the post season resumes and see who you want in JJMs ear in December and beyond.

and this is not be demeaning to RT, but JF has the resume. If we need a QB2, well IMO its likely a toss up, but how many QB have shown anything after being out of the league for a year or more and then coming back?

I like Flacco, but he's 40. Tannehill is 36. Both are at the age where one or two years makes a big difference. 4 years is huge.

Either would be fine. When’s the last time Tannehill even played? But I say sign whichever of the two projects as the better mentor and ink it.

Don't see how Flacco is better than Tannehill. He's also 4 years older. Its a wash to me, fine either way.

Its not about their in field abilities for me,  its how they can help JJM,  IMO Flaccos resume of experience far outweighs that of Tannehill.  This roster is designed to got to the playoffs,  Flacco has over 3 times the playoff experience in terms of games played.  16-5.  Flacco imo would make the better #2 for that reason.  I dont think eithers game is going to push JJM as neither option at their ages, will come close to the athleticism he brings.

Flacco’s deep ball is sublime. That in and of itself is good enough for me.

Regardless of who it is, KOC is going to have whomever balling. Guaranteed. Hell, get Drew Lock. Trade for Sam Howell. Results are the same.

Doesn’t Flacco possibly cost us a compensatory pick if signed now. Even if you like Flacco better, I’m not sure you like him a 4th round pick better. Perhaps if you wait til after the draft, but I wouldn’t do Flacco now.

Yup, 4th rounder is a big deal.

Especially in a year where we're essentially paupers when it comes to picks.

The comp pick would factor into 2026. Unless you think we’re going to trade away the ‘26 draft as well?
