OT: First Post Helene Hike - JustInTime - 02-23-2025
It was bittersweet to get out today. Pisgah National Forest is about 45 minutes from our condo. Hadn’t been out that way since well before Helene. Lots of devastation still present. Downed trees, river levels low due to trees causing dams. Had to turn back midway through our hike as footbridges were still out. It was still good to just get out.

Eagles hat? That's certainly a divorceable offense..
Sounds like North Carolina is still quite a mess. Very sad. I don't think I could ever live in a place where inclimate weather is capable of destroying your home, city or county on any given year.

Glad you guys got out today.
Sending lots of hope for recovery there...Same with LA, my kid used to live in Alta Dena (now in Silver Lake) and the devastation is just heart-breaking and on a same massive scale.

Northern California. We get the occasional blip of an earthquake...but no hurricanes, tornadoes, sub zero temperatures, etc.

Thank you. I don't think this area will ever be the same in my lifetime. Adaptation to the new reality is pretty much all I can do.
