I don't understand how this is possible for a professional athlete who has all of the best in terms of equipment, trainers and nutritionists. So his leg prevented him from lifting upper body? Would think he never missed a beat in terms of upper body workouts and that also could have started non-weight bearing exercises for his legs at some point.

That's what I was thinking. I'm not going to pretend to know more than the Vikings training staff, but I do know that some of the biggest arms I've ever seen were on the wheelchair bound. I find it hard to believe the Vikings didn't have him on a specific nutrition and weight training program.  I'm sure they did, but how do you lose 20 lbs?

I suspect he was following medical advice from sports medicine professionals.  I doubt he just decided to stop working out,  besides the largest muscle groups are lower body and since you arent going to work jist 1 leg,  its stands to reason that people that have to force themselves to eat to keep enough calories going to just maintain playing weight, would see much more dramatic loss in times of not training than the normal Joe.

I don't even know why this is news. If it's part of his rehab process, big deal.

We’re 7 months from our next game. I’m not that concerned. It’s more important about when he’s able to get back on that horse and start working out again.

Of course this was medical advice by the staff. Less body weight and no working out leads to better and quicker results for knee injuries. It was mentioned in stories after he was seen on TV looking thin at the playoff loss. Overreaction Monday I guess, lol!

My guess? Lighter weight = Easier on the knee.

If he needs to add weigth just hang out with me. When others lose weight I am able to find it.

When they showed him on the sidelines towards the end of the season he looked like a waif. Hopefully he can bulk back up just as fast.
