Vikings coach Mike Zimmer assured the world that quarterback Sam Bradford is “fine” after Sunday’s loss to the Steelers, which likely came as a surprise to those who watched Case Keenum start the game while Bradford was on the inactive list.
Bradford spent last week practicing on a limited basis when he wasn’t getting an MRI in hopes of getting a handle on the swelling and discomfort in the same knee as his twice-torn ACL. That’s not quite the textbook definition of fine, especially with Zimmer unwilling to say when Bradford might play again.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Bradford is believed to have a bone bruise and that he will have an injection in his knee this week. The response to that injection will determine next steps and provide a better idea of when Bradford might be able to return to full action.
The Vikings host the Buccaneers next Sunday and they’ll hold their first practice of the week on Wednesday.

When did he go to medical school?

The way Leber was talking about it really leaves you wondering how threatening it really is? The devil's in the details and is dependent on the causal and/or location.

If this is bone on bone it could be really bad for obvious reasons...But that's a worst case scenario and I'm staying hopeful for now.

Jeebus, life of a Viking fan is not an easy one.

Nobody knows V83. Or rather, they know but won't say. Regardless a bunch of people are just making up stuff in the meantime.

Maybe they stayed at a holiday Inn express in Pittsburgh?

They have not released that kind of detail that I'm aware of. Not holding my breath that they do. Sam may very well be a game time decision again.

Thats what i'd do if I were Zimmer....Keep TB game planning against 2 qb's. Or at least 1.5 Wink

Been reading a lot about these bone bruises. Sounds like they're much worse than they sound. It's not just a "pain thing" either. If Sam even considered playing on Sunday, then perhaps it's not as bad as others, but the typical recovery time is 4 to 6 weeks.

What is a bone bruise? It is not a simple contusion that is treated with ice and managed symptomatically. A deep bone bruise is essentially a microscopic fracture, much like a ligament sprain is a microscopic tear. I am not suggesting it is a true fracture that needs surgery or casting, but there is compromise to the integrity of the bone in order to get the swelling/fluid inside the bone.
