Vikings offensive line coach confident with Nick Easton moving to left guard - purplefaithful - 09-09-2017 Nick Easton started the final five games last season at center for the Vikings, and now he’s at left guard. So what will be the key for Easton in Monday night’s opener against New Orleans at U.S. Bank Stadium? “Just got to focus on not snapping the ball and blocking my guy,’’ Easton said Thursday. vikings-offensive-line-coach-confident-in-nick-easton-moving-to-left-guard Vikings offensive line coach confident with Nick Easton moving to left guard - Guest - 09-10-2017 This was a very wise move. I worry a bit about Berger on the right, simply because he is retiring next year and his preseason play wasn't as good as the past couple of years. But he has been a very good seasoned pro and I feel he will perform well one last time before retirement. If not, there is a promising young guy knocking on the starting door. If Remmers can hold up on the right ,and Reiff stays healthy, I think they will be good. Can't help but wonder if they have them in the wrong positions though. I'm not an OL coach and I trust they know what they're doing, but I have this gut feeling that they might be better reversed: Easton at C and Elflein at G. But we'll see. Also a little concerned about depth with Isadora out. I guess that means Sirles would come in if one of them got hurt. I know everyone is still very concerned about the line. Legitimately so. But this line is in so much better shape than it was last year, with (left to right) Clemmings, Boone, Berger, Fusco, and Sirles the starting lineup for the bulk of the season. Every single one of those positions has seen an upgrade IMO. They won't resemble the great lines from the past, but they should be significantly better, especially running the ball.
