This is the "out" to start Max on Sunday. I always remind myself that I don't see practices, detailed film work, etc, and the coaches will always have exponentially more information than I do, or any of the armchair coaches/GMs. I have to believe that JJM is showing what he's supposed to during the week, but then...?
I was worried about this week in general. The "correct" thing to do, and I was all-in on this, was to stand with the kid through his learning/developing and take the lumps. It's always a possibility with young'uns, even veterans in new systems. I figured that backing off the kid would send a Childress-esque message to our QB room going forward, and that was a nightmare.
Now, though...I don't see Brosmer as a sacrificial lamb, I see him as an experiment, a warning, and a statement to the team: whether by chance or, um, "opportunity", it looks like they're running the next man up, and in a way that doesn't really diss JJM. On the other hand, if McCarthy sees Brosmer pull a "Purdy" while he's recuperating (?), that gets very interesting, especially for the offseason.
Another very interesting week in Vikings Land....
If JJ is healthy he should start. This evaluation is not over nor should it be. If KOC believes Brosmer gives us the best chance to win however, as VG eloquently said LFG!
Recall in January, most everyone here wanted to move forward with JJ, saying we had to. I am confident that KAM and KOC offered in the neighborhood of Darnold 2 years 50, as myself, Pattersaur and maybe one other said we should. Regardless that wasn’t going to be enough with his performance and JJ waiting in the wings.
JJ needs time, and deserves it, but if Brosmer is more ready ATM, you’ve got to play for the win.

I’m still mad that KOC didn’t give Max any playing time at all the game Wentz was in so much pain.
I still think from what I have seen so far, play both Quarterbacks the rest of the season.

Regardless of how Max does, I still think JJ can become at least a serviceable QB once he gets his mental house in order, and would like to see the team continue to work with him as a viable QB and not cast him aside if Brosmer is able to make a good showing.

JJ may be back sooner than most think. The concussion was legit! I remember the run play where he hit his head and for a very brief moment was on his back motionless and his arms curled up with wrists flexed toward his chest. That is a classic posture after a concussion or knock out. But it was very brief and he popped right up with the help of his teammates. I was surprised they didn't pull him out for an evaluation. Independent evaluator must have missed it. He also hit his head on the next play when sacked face first into the turf.
I hope Brosmer balls out and JJ can take his time to get his head straight. But if not, he may be back out there in a week or two!

Dr.Johnny! Wow! I didn’t see that moment on his back. And I didnt know about those signs of a concussion. This kid just can’t get a break. I’ll say a prayer for him tonight. I also think he needs to be able to talk to somebody—I mean a professional. He’s a 22 year old kid who believes he has the weight of the world on his shoulders.

I saw that hit and was like aren't they going to evaluate him, nope. And there were signs of a concussion too. I agree with the idea of a professional. A lot of it is in his head and it is manifesting on the field. He is overthinking things and taking too long. His mechanics are bad and the idea of them asking him to change so much so soon might not be a good one. He needs a reset and to get healthy

I'll say this after going back and watching some Brosmer clips from the preseason and at Minnesota. He goes through his progressions well, throws a nice ball, pressure doesn't necessarily shake him, and there's a strong likelihood he can do some things in this offense. He is much more the type of quarterback that has had success in this offense (Cousins/Darnold) historically under KOC. He's 24 and has played a lot of football the last four or five years. I am a little leery still on why we didn't turn to him sooner after Wentz was clearly injured and ineffective. I'd also feel better about this Seattle game if the offensive line was fully intact because Brosmer isn't much of a runner and this Seattle defense will have him running. Excited to see what the kids got..
