After clearing waivers, a player is free to sign with whatever practice squad they choose. They don't get claimed/assigned to a practice squad.
At the beginning of the season, Sloter chose us over Denver's practice squad partially because we offered/paid him more to join. We paid Sloter $20,000 a week on the practice squad. The active roster minimum is $27,000; his raise was $7,000. ... $20,000 is "a lot of money" for a practice squad player. $27,000 is Goodwill for a active roster player...
If we cut Sloter, he goes to waivers. If a team claims him, he goes to their ACTIVE ROSTER. If no one claims him, he is free to sign with whoever's practice squad he wants... If we previously offered him $20,000 a week for the practice squad, has anything changed to where we would offer him less than what he was making prior to being called up? Probably not...
the team should know by know how much they think of the kids potential, i trust them to do what they think is right. if they expose him then IMO they arent overly sold on his developing into anything worth talking about.

The biggest risk is waivers. Exactly right; another team could claim him and cut another player on their roster to make room for him on their 53.
Who is going to claim him off waivers? We watch the Vikes shuffle players in and off the 53 all season long; we know once we get commited to a core of players and rotations that it takes a lot to dump someone to even active a player, let alone sign one.
Even teams desperate for a QB, say even the Packers, do they have the time or the depth to drop a guy right now to pick up an unknown in Sloter?
I personally think we could get him back on to the practice squad; i'd gamble on the risk. It's hard to carry 4 QBs; we're 4-2. Keenum, Bridgewater tomorrow...

I would love to know about Bradford's knee... because if he isn't really "week to week," maybe we could IR him (designated to return) and open up that roster spot? I dont know when the cut off is to designate returns... but that would certainly keep Sloter around...

The packers would certainly qualify, but I would say also teams like the 9ers browns, chargers or giants. More will be added as the season goes on.
Like I said, if the coaches do it then they've seen what they want to see, but considering the money and interest he drew when the broncos waived him I have to say I really wanted to see what he has before letting him leave.

Sloter to the PS because the vikings are paying him a lot while on the PS. The only way they lose him is if some other team were to pay as much or more. Wont' happen.
And if it does big deal. They can always sign him in the offseason.
