It’s not the only thing in this thread infuriating though. This thread got way out of hand and its (rare) politics make the football board anymore -- and it shouldn't. I really enjoy your football takes, hope you think about coming back, maybe when the season/draft starts. Our household is 1/2 Christian, 1/2 Jewish...Context When I was still working full time, there were some co-workers who were just right of center from me...We gave each other s hit about our politics, but it never became personal. Even in these ugly, divisive times. Gaza and the terrorist attacks in Israel really sent some of them off. They were/are more pro Israel than me (I cant stand Bibi). Their adoration was I thought admirable. Until I realized it was being driven by Christian Nationalism and Muslim distrust/hate. My only point in bringing in all of this is that the world is quick to label left or right, woke, asleep, bad/good. Truth is there are shades of bad in both. Compromise has become a "dirty word" unfortunately. I dont want someone stuffing their take on the bible down my throat or inserting their personal christian dogma into my schools as much as anyone on the left telling me everything Trump does is dumb and hateful. Regarding compromise where Israel/"Palestine" is concerned: the people that have embraced Arafat's "Palestinian" agenda since 60s have a common thread in common: electing/appointing leadership that swears death to Jews, Israel, and the West. This is constant, and certainly loud enough to be heard at every Gaza protest since 10/7. Many interviewers have posted videos asking the "Palestinians" about their take on the two-state "solution"...and at least 80% won't even humor it. Israel must fall, all the Jews must go, our land, no compromise whatsoever. Meanwhile, Israel has literally given ground...albeit imperfectly, and Bibi leads a pack of rabid assclowns that want Gaza's beachfront. So does our president, go figure. I'm done with the two-state illusion, period. I've watched it fail over and over, and I've watched the many years and incidents where the Palestinian Authority and/or UNRWA actively distributed school texts and education videos that glorified hatred of Jews, martyrdom, and all the misogynistic nightmares so common in that part of the world. They refuse to co-exist, I hope a transplanting option actually happens. I still vote for Iran, Qatar, and countries like Ireland/Norway that shrieked about Gaza deaths as soon as the fighting started. I don't hate those people, but I'm convinced it'll take generations for them to embrace anything but the bulls**t narrative about their "stolen land". History and archeology make that claim largely ridiculous...and the generations of attempted genocide, tens of thousands of missiles fired into Israel, and even the original plans with the Mufti make a strong argument for forfeit. RE: Really Twitter?? Really? - purplefaithful - 03-16-2025 I think a two state solution is the only answer...The problem has been how poorly it's been executed, still a good idea imo. Even given tens of billions of dollars, it's spent on missiles, tunnels, and weapon manufacturing...plus, keeping their rulers in luxury Qatar housing. The experiment failed generations ago. Israel has given land, jobs, uncountable resources...and yes, bombs/munitions when the inevitable attacks come. If one side brags about existing just to thwart the other, there will never be two "states"...just a state of constant danger. RE: Really Twitter?? Really? - Zanary - 03-16-2025 There are a LOT of these interviews, I went with one of the most recent collections: https://youtu.be/kbPK7NnPRUk?si=T4pGBBU9HhpCaVaa You'd find more open minds in a Breitbart article about the Obamas or a Huffpost article about Ted Nugent. |
