Being in Broncos country, I can tell you the quote from a Broncos fan is accurate. They're pissed.

I think it's high time we took a gamble like this and found a winning lottery ticket.

That pass between the two defenders... I'm not sure I'd call that an NFL throw... Because there are several NFL QBs that wouldn't attempt that pass.

Yeah, I finally got a chance to get back to Denver radio yesterday and the mood was a cauldron. It's funny how big a story this is in Denver...

Some fan comments:

I've just become a staunch Minnesota Vikings/Kyle Sloter supporter due to what will become known as the biggest mindless, egotistical blunder in NFL history. Sloter showed more hopeful and exciting promise and talent in just 1 training camp and 4 preseason games than both of the 6'-7" stiffs Johnny boy spent premium draft choices on have shown in 4 years put together. With the outstanding young roster the Vikings have assembled they just well may have aquired the crowning piece to what may resemble the New England Patriots of the next decade. Maybe Elway can use his bum twin towers to start a beach volleyball team. But they'll stink that up to hell too.

I think Elway has done a really good job in his position, but I think letting Sloter go for Osweiler will end up being something we regret..big time.
I hate this feeling when I hope like Hell I am wrong, but right now I think letting Sloter go will be one of the worst blunders of NFL history.
Elway has been a great GM, ... but THIS was a HUGE mistake.

We should just put him on the active roster to protect him.  If Teddy is activated from the PUP, just cut Keenum. Teddy can be the top backup with Sloter the #3 this season.

I tend to agree with this.  Any team that loses a starter this weekend will be looking hard at a promising young guy to bring into the fold.

As much as I liked Heinicke, and I still think he's got a future in the league, Kyle Sloter is a developmental prototype. His arm and measurables are top notch. He's Colin Kaepernick (hopefully without the distractions): Similar size, speed, arm, intelligence. This is a guy you can hammer on for a few years and really end up with something special. Make no mistake, it's still a long shot. ALL QBs, even 1st rounders, are long shots. But at least with this one you know that everything else is there, and the training and development you spend on him could pay off huge down the road.

But when you think about it, why are teams so cheap when it comes to this? Denver, Philly, Atlanta weren't willing to pony up the extra couple hundred grand for a flyer on a prototype QB? In a league where teams almost yearly leave millions of dollars of dead money on their books? Kudos to Rick for doing what it took.

I think Heini disappointed the Vikings that he was not further along in development and that does raise the question if he has topped out.  With Sloter,  he is no more developed than Heini, but his ceiling seems much higher.

I'm not sure exactly how the PS works, but if a team wanted to sign him to their active roster, don't we have the option to match what they are offering first to put him on our active roster?

Anyone that loses a starter won't be looking at Sloter.  That is why Denver released him, they needed to get someone who could be counted on this year.

Yep. Sloter is developmental at this time. No team losing a starter will be interested. The Vikings paid him enough to keep him happy in 2017 on the PS, he's practicing every day as the de facto #3, expect them to bump him up next off season to active roster.
