Secondly, it helps prevent Aaron Glenn from accidentally winning some games in an already lost season.  I don't think any coach/player really wants to tank, but the GM can help things along by getting rid of their good players.  Also, they didn't really firesale the offense.  For a rebuilding team, I think you really want to have as much of a foundation on offense still intact, but by all means get rid of the defense and worry about that later.

The jets need a lot of help.... a rookie QB isn't anywhere near the top of that list IMO.  If the Vikings have shown anything over the last quarter century... you can find a journeyman or free agent veteran to drive the Ferrari if you build one,  you just need to bring in your rookie before that veteran crashes it into a tree.

You just never know when that chance will come again, and only through the draft are you going to get one of those elite QBs that takes you to multiple SBs.

I'd just be stacking OLine and Receivers if I were the Jets on any non-QB pick.

That said, different ranking sites seem to think the Jets OLine is pretty ok
