RE: Potential Cousins trade - hogjowlsjohnny - 04-22-2025 Where is the value in having Kirk return? He knows the system so he is a sure fire fit for a back up. But the Vikings had what, 6 years of him before he tore his achilles? He wasn't able to take them to the promise land then. I would just as soon look elsewhere. I want a back up who can support JJM. Cousins isn't that guy, and Atlanta is trying to deal him at a price the Vikings shouldn't pay. RE: Potential Cousins trade - RS_Express - 04-22-2025 One possible hurdle to a Cousins trade is that along with the Vikings only having 4 picks, the Falcons only have 5, so neither side wants to lose picks. The solution might be a pick swap. Vikings pay $10 million and get Kirk and #118 and send #139 to Atlanta. Then maybe trade back from 118 to get more picks. Maybe raise his stock around the league if he does really well. No. He's just showing up to try to make the team uncomfortable. Push them to let him go. I think this is the case. When the HC said a week ago that 'he wouldn't expect Cousins to be at voluntary work' and then Kirko shows up, its gamesmanship. I think Atlanta is going to have concede more with a trade partner than they currently are thinking of to move him. I think you might have a little situational interest from a few teams, but nobody is knocking down their door. And rightly so: he'll be 37 years old in August and he looked like dog crap last year. RE: Potential Cousins trade - StickierBuns - 04-23-2025 Update: VikingzFanPage @vikingzfanpage Although Minnesota was listed as a potential suitor for Kirk Cousins, they are considered the “least likely” to acquire the veteran QB, per @DMRussini . Russini also mentioned how she believes Cousins would be against going to a situation involving a young QB. “Minnesota is looked at as the least likely scenario, given their preference for J.J. McCarthy and that Cousins would need to sign off on any trade he is involved in. It’s believed that Cousins would be against any trade that involves sending him to a situation involving a young QB, similar to the situation he faced in Atlanta last year. If a trade were to happen, I’d expect it to go down on Saturday.” RE: Potential Cousins trade - badgervike - 04-23-2025 I'm starting to see a lot more Cousins to the Steelers which would make some sense...if Kirk signs off on it. First Rodgers, now Kirk, next we'll be attached to Deshaun Watson smh. RE: Potential Cousins trade - purplefaithful - 04-23-2025 I hope for Kirk's sake that he can land with a Pittsburgh, Cleveland or team that needs someone to steward the ship for a season or 2. There's a scientific term called diffusion that says elements tend to flow to and fill areas of low concentration first. In other words, I'd be very surprised if Kirk doesn't end up starting for a team with a vacancy at QB1. Cousins isn't that guy, and Atlanta is trying to deal him at a price the Vikings shouldn't pay. The team wasn't going to the promised land, period. 5 of those 6 years, we couldn't even manage mediocre QB protection, and 3 of those years came with defenses rated 30th or worse. 4 of them came with a coach determinedly opposed to the QB, in general, and who was the opposite personality of what we have now. Kirk knows the system, got to be our #3 all-time QB despite being mauled constantly, and has recently had to face realities regarding age, injuries, and endurance. If...Big IF, admittedly...he's had his ego deflated enough to adopt the backup/mentor role, he'd be a great fit. |
