That's my guess as well for the most part.

This gets back to why should he settle for less guaranteed?

Or less term than those 3? He's achieved more than any of them.

I dont think thats a realistic bargaining position for the 49'er front office to take, at least in this era of the NFL for a starting QB.

Not saying it is going to happen.  Just that if I were running a team, I wouldn't give him a huge contract with long term implications.  I would pay him a starters wage, but protect the team from being saddled by an unreasonable salary.

I want the 49ers to pay tier one money to their tier two QB. This is one of the more problematic things a franchise can do nowadays and anything that weakens an NFC opponent is good for us imo.

I am with you,  I dont see Purdy as a key part of that superbowl run,  he is a decent player,  but not one that makes you quit looking for an improvement,  but if they hand him top tier money,  they are stuck and that is a sure fire quick way to sink a rising franchise IMO.

I'd rather see them move on from Purdy and take a ride on the QB-go-round.

Didnt he end last season injured again?  And/Or had offseason surgery or something with his passing arm again?  I think hes been hurt at least 2 of the seasons hes been in the league,  id say he has some things left to prove before you lock him up to a franchise deal.
