I have no clue why Jones would want to sign in Minnesota considering he can make a lot more in Indy, Cleveland, etc. and legitimately fight for a starting spot. There's no competition with the Vikings, its McCarthy's job despite any coachspeak.

If we sign Jones I hope we learned from the Darnold contract ... sign Jones for two years just in case he somehow gets on the field and impresses. We can trade him for draft picks. A one year deal is for insurance, a two year deal is an investment. We need to sign a 2nd QB anyway unless we roll with Brett Rypien who I believe was signed to a reserve/future contract.

The question is, how much is enough?
Jones made $25mm on his 4-year rookie deal.
He signed for another $160mm on his extension with the Giants, of which $92mm was guaranteed ($81mm guaranteed at signing).
So lots at play here, but he's already financially comfortable.
I am going out on a limb here and suggest that he thinks the supporting cast in Minnesota is better for his long-term development as well as being one injury (to JJM) away from being a starter on the field. He can afford to take the long view.

It could be the very reason why he's pondering Minnesota, in fact it has to be. Why else? He'll most assuredly make more money elsewhere this season. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, it seems odd that he'd consider the Vikings UNLESS the reasons you mention. I still think the odds are against it (him signing with the Vikings).

Quite honestly, if Danny can’t beat out a kid who sat out all year he isn’t a starter anyway.
