The Bears overpaid for Johnson, but no doubt KOC should be getting more. They probably could have gotten Kevin for $11 or $12 million per year before this amazing regular season. IMO, he's worth every penny. RE: KOC extended - NorseFeathers - 01-22-2025 KOC just named NFC coach of the year by the Committee of 101. https://www.vikings.com/news/kevin-o-connell-nfc-coach-of-year-101-awards RE: KOC extended - StickierBuns - 01-23-2025 Also read that KOC negotiated more say in personnel matters, which I'm glad for if true. Have KAM extended, but neuter him a bit and let KOC flex on important draft/player decisions. Have KAM extended, but neuter him a bit and let KOC flex on important draft/player decisions. I'm curious to know what this means. What does "more say" mean exactly? I think it's pretty clear he already has quite a bit of sway in terms of draft picks, as he should, as head coach. He did a lot of work on Addison and McCarthy and he clearly had some pull in free agency, helping to bring Aaron Jones to the Vikings. But to his credit, Kwesi isn't a rogue GM. Like all good GMs, he appears to listen to his staff and doesn't make decisions unilaterally. So what does "more say" mean? I hope at least THEY have outlined the parameters of this or it could get sketchy. I'm certain parameters are laid out in the extension, but whether that gets out completely is probably unlikely. And it could be 100% bullshit, so take with a grain like most anything on the 'Net these days. Just throwing out a guess, or an educated guess from talks, final say over the 53. KOC has final say over player moves that Kwesi makes, meaning they have to be agreed upon or KOC can dismiss the move. Basically, gets more groceries in his cart, instead of getting a cart full of bad produce. RE: KOC extended - StickierBuns - 01-23-2025 Minnesota Vikings @Vikings Head Coach Kevin O'Connell has been voted as Coach of the Year by the PFWA. How you take a complete bust of a highly drafted QB and go 14-2 is beyond worthy of it. RE: KOC extended - purplefaithful - 01-25-2025 Unless there is a BIG SURPRISE, it looks like Flores is back for at least another year...I feel badly for him, but happy for Skol Nation. I suspect KOC's staff might get some bumps in pay as well as the HC? Maybe Flores gets a bump in title of some sorts? |
