I do not think a lot of fans are going to leave family and friend and head out of town to go to a game, which is has lost so much in terms of level of importance. Some friends I know with season seats didn't even consider the thought of going. I am typically obsessing over the upcoming game each week and especially for a playoff game, but have not given it a lot of thought this week. I expect the stands to be majority Viking fans. Stay safe! Nothing like a raging inferno to put a football game in perspective. A game means nothing when put into perspective. From personal experience, I was serving in the military in Vietnam in 1971 when three or four Vikings players came over to our basecamp on a USO tour. They were sitting at a table in the mess hall when I went in there to eat. Nobody even talked to them, including me, an avid Vikings fan. Life has a way of sorting out what is worth worrying about and what isn't. They were playing a game, we were trying to survive. They were already lucky, we were trying to get lucky enough to go home and have a life. I was lucky, several weren't. I love my Vikings football but it is meaningless compared to what these unfortunate people in California are enduring. Thanks for pointing that out purple. |
