IMO he is being told to take it out. There's no way he is doing it and the coaches are ok with it. They'd have replaced him by now if that were the case.

I think it is actually worth the risk. He is going to make the 20 most times for sure. So what's the loss to the gamble? 5 yards? If you can't go 5 yards you can't go 75, so clearly the odds are better to try and get better field position.

I don't have the stats to back it up but it sure seems like everyone is taking it out of the end zone more often and actually I remember reading articles about how this would be the case when they changed the rules.

Jet looked the part...I have a feeling that if we got Murray more carries he'd get in a groove...go with the hot hand...definitely better running attack than last year's shit show...

This is what I'd like to see happen. Murray isn't Dalvin but I like his overall skill set better than McKinnon's. Plus....McKinnon makes me nervous with some of the chances he takes, especially on kickoffs. He got that 1 kick return TD in the preseason and suddenly he thinks he's CP. He's NOT CP.
AND btw...yes, we do miss CP around here, if for no other reason than having an extra scoring opportunity for a team that annually battles injuries and dinged up offensive players (Diggs, Rudolph).
Murray doesn't seem right yet.  Would have loved to have him in there for the ground and pound against a weakened defense.  But kudos to Case for getting up to the line and taking advantage of a defense that was confused and not set.  Those plays were huge.  12 men on the field, Jet's TD, and a few others.  Jet had some really good runs.  (I know, take away all the long runs and he really sucked...)

It wasn't pretty, but we were due to intercept those horrible throws by Tribisky.  Couldn't believe Sendejo tipped that one up.  Harry made up for it.

As a safety you cannot tip the ball up. I know it happens but that's like cardinal sin. I don't think that ball even gets caught sans tip.

maybe not, but play calling changes the closer you get to your own goal line,  and one false start or holding call and they are in their own goal post shadows.  I will stick with it not being worth the risk,  huge difference between starting at your own 15 vs your own 25 and McKinnon has had many more short of the 25 than he has had in excess of the 25.  in a game of field position... i will take the free 5 to 10 yards everyday.  I dont even know if the Vikes starting field position after kick off is over the 20 with the touch backs factored in.  He has failed to make the 20 quite a few times IIRC.

Thought I heard that there have been 0 kick return touchdowns this year.  IMO, kneel it an get the free 45.  Jet has value on offense and taking a shot and losing him will hurt the team.  And the chance of a fumble or other injury... Just take the knee unless it is a short kick.

they said that last night,  that will change,  but IMO the odds are much greater for something bad to happen than something good.  just take the risk out of the play... its free yards.

You mean like he did last week to get Harrison the interception?  They call it a tip drill for a reason.  It was a good play by Sendejo, usually the defense gets the tips.

when you are the deep S,  you hit it down if you can. ( no point in tipping it up in the air if you dont have anybody playing behind you.)

in dejos case he just didnt have the reach,  he wasnt trying  to hit it up or down,  it was all he could do to get his fingers on the ball.

I agree he was just trying to deflect it any way he could.  However, if you watch the replay both Rhodes and Smith were right there so if the ball was tipped just a little differently it could have been a pick.
