RE: LT issues in Chitown - MaroonBells - 08-18-2025 Bears Twitter is having a ticker tape parade down Michigan Ave. I think the Bears wanted to use this game to inject some positivity as they break camp and move into regular practices. The opening script that Johnson gave Williams was a good one. We'll see what happens when they need to adjust and play off schedule against All Pros...and not players who will struggle to make a roster. Viking Twitter is the same way, ridiculously positive or just the gloomiest negativity. I know I'm not the target demo anymore as I've aged out of it some time ago, but this trend of the last few years of the extremes wears me out. I'm just looking for some sports news that might possibly be even keeled or negative/positive when its called for or real, not spiked for engagement only. I mean, how much are real fans and how much are just stupid bots? Next week is the first roster cutdowns, so that's moving us closer to the season starting. I mean, how much are real fans and how much are just stupid bots? If it were limited to sports, it wouldn't be bad. Sports are meant to be fun. But the fact that it's even worse in science, politics and culture is the truly dangerous thing. RE: LT issues in Chitown - hogjowlsjohnny - 08-18-2025 Caleb did show he can pick you apart if he doesn't have any pressure and his first read is open. The one time he did have pressure, he pulled the ball down and bailed out the back of the pocket like usual. Things should look a little different once he is facing Flores' defense. RE: LT issues in Chitown - MaroonBells - 08-18-2025 It's pretty easy to win a preseason game if that's your intention. Even blowout good opponents. I'm thinking of Denny Green's rookie season as coach in 1992. He wanted to set a tone for the rest of the season. And wow, did he. A team that was supposed to be rebuilding won the division. In 1992, the Minnesota Vikings had a perfect 4-0 preseason record, outscoring their opponents 140-6. They defeated the Buffalo Bills 24-3, the Kansas City Chiefs 30-0, the Cleveland Browns 56-3, and the Washington Redskins 30-0, according to a Reddit thread. This strong preseason performance was the best for the Vikings since 1973 and helped them secure a 5-1 start to the regular season and ultimately a 11-5 record and the NFC Central division title. RE: LT issues in Chitown - comet52 - 08-18-2025 Denny did the same thing after Stringer's death in 2001. Played starters longer to secure preseason wins. But it didn't help, as the team couldn't overcome the blow and went 5-11. As for da Bears, they've been preseason champs before. It's a franchise with a lot of tradition and that's a big one. |
