RE: Biggest concern heading into the season? - JustInTime - 06-23-2025 iDL is almost ready for AARP cards but way better than what they were before. Jones will fair better with a true 60/40 split, but he’s sharing reps with a guy coming off injury. We’re a bad hammy away from extended Chandler time. Defensive backfield is in flux with unproven starters. OL has 60% of their starters coming off injury. RE: Biggest concern heading into the season? - StickierBuns - 06-24-2025 As with any other position, injuries to starters won't be a good thing. No controlling that. And that will play a factor in who wins games and who doesn't, always does. Nobody cried any tears outside of Detroit when they picked out a few fans from the stands each home game to play on defense the 2nd half of the season. Tough schedule that brings it almost every week. Trial by fire for Mr. McCarthy and I'm sure opposing D's will bring it. The OL will be fine. My very first thought was injuries (or injury recovery from players hurt last season, whether its Darrisaw, Fries or anyone else). RE: Biggest concern heading into the season? - JR44 - 06-24-2025 The secondary for sure, we are replacing the steady Bynum with an unproven Jackson who has not gotten a lot of playing time. We all love Harry, but he has been on the decline for some time and not nearly the same player. CB is even more a of a question mark, Murphy is a good CB, but at the money we are paying him he needs to be a big time #1 CB, which he is not, think a lot have forgotten how often he gets picked on in coverage, a good #2, but not anywhere near that lockdown CB. Think Rodgers is being way overrated, keeps being touted as the nickel on an Eagles, which he was not, he was actually their 5th CB, last SB he played 8 of 55 snaps. Going to need someone like Okudah to have a career revival or a McGlothern to really develop. RE: Biggest concern heading into the season? - ArizonaViking - 06-24-2025 First, the uncertain health of Darrisaw and Fries...when will they be able to play and how ready will they be. Like JR44 has said above about the secondary. They are still a mystery. RE: Biggest concern heading into the season? - Vanguard83 - 06-24-2025 I'm most concerned with our kicking game, but I ALWAYS am. RE: Biggest concern heading into the season? - greediron - 06-25-2025 I am most concerned for our packer trolls who might just have a meltdown this year when JJM surpasses their "franchise" QB. Vikings haven't had any kind of inside pass rush since Kevin Williams retired. We've had an assortment of league average players like Bullard, Tillery, Sheldon Richardson, Dalvin Tomlinson, Shemar Stephen, but nothing at all like what we're about to see. Even more so than the IOL rebuild, I think the addition of Allen and Hargrave is the most underrated move the Vikings made in the offseason, and is going to make an enormous difference for this defense. One is 30, the. other 32, so not spring chickens, but DLs tend to play longer than other positions. Cam Heyward was 1st team all pro last year at 36. Calais Campbell is 38. TJ Watt, Trey Hendrickson, Chris Jones, all over 30. It's their backfills. My therapist would say its time to focus on my being present lol! |
