KOC said that JJM was a 'franchise QB'.....that rookie contract is valuable....and if you're a 'QB Whisperer' than you've got a set of brand new unadulterated ears to whisper in. You can transform and improve the team quickly in 2025 with JJM's contract. Nix and Daniels both made the playoffs as rookies. JJ is going to know the offense well. Is it really a leap to think the Vikings would be successful next year with McCarthy QBing and an improved team thanks to free agency? It isn't. And the more thought I've given this, the more I think this is the route they'll take.
While I don't profess to have an inside track to Kwesi's mindset, JJM might be a franchise QB, but hasn't taken a snap since his surgery in August.
I think that there may be some straddling between who the franchise QBOTF might be...Darnold? JJM? Jones? Nothing is ruled out at this point.

its not the OGs fault that GB cant get any push in the run game, and gets put on his ass or just used as a plow blade back into the QB as often as he does, he just doesnt have the game to hold up at the IOL. if he didnt have to do any man on man blocking, he'd be fine, but to many teams have figured out how to get an IDL onto him and its almost always a loss for GB and the Vikings.

Cap space isn’t a good or bad thing. It just means you don’t have as many guys under contract.
People are going to make the mistake of saying something like, “Well we’re this good this year, imagine how much better we’ll be next year with all that cap space” but they won’t factor in that our QB is gone or costs more, that our RBs need to be resigned, our secondary and half our defense will all need new contracts or they’re gone, etc.
I do think Kwesi has done a good job of setting us up, and really getting a core of good players set as we open up our window, but a lot of our success is coming on the backs of players who may or may not be here in 2025 and it’s probably going to cost a lot more to resign some of these guys than we’re currently paying them.

Anyone disagree with this now? Get McCarthy in there next year and let's put this shit ending of a season in the rearview. I guarantee you this kid doesn't have 'shitting the bed in big games' in his DNA. How you play in these types of games is everything in the NFL. Personally, I'm glad we found this out now about Uncle Sammy before paying him. That's how I look at it.

Amen. I don’t see any way they bring back Darnold at a vastly increased salary compared to this year (which he’ll want), so I think they’ll roll with JJM and hopefully Daniel Jones will sign on as competition/mentor/fairly-priced backup.

Lots of that on Sam, lots not, lack of a running game too.
Smith would be #1 on my list, followed by a CB upgrade.
They better get some of this figured out - especially if they put a rook QB in there.

Doesn't matter if its a rookie or not, it needs to get figured out period for any QB. 2 rookie QBs made the playoffs, so Viking Nation shouldn't worry about JJM in that regard. The question to ask is do we want to do better in the playoffs? The answer is you have to hope JJM gives you that upside, because we know Darnold does not. And neither does Danny Dimes. This is why you draft a QB high.....and he needs to play to find out.
