Little Birdie Says...Teddy going to PUP - purplefaithful - 07-17-2017

It still looks like the Vikings, who begin training camp next week, will place QB Teddy Bridgewater (major knee injury) on the NFL’s physically unable to perform list, meaning he can work out on the side but not partake in official practices.
The next big date for Bridgewater would be Sept. 2. If he’s still on the PUP list then, he would be required to miss the first six games on the season.
It won’t be surprising if Bridgewater and his agent end up claiming by the end of the exhibition games that he’s physically healthy enough to play. If that becomes an issue, it could end up going to an arbitrator. Had Bridgewater not tragically gotten hurt last spring, he could have expected a mega-high-paying contract.
Bridgewater, 24, is under contract this season for $1.35 million. He can become an unrestricted free agent after the 2018 season.

Charlie also says;

The only player the Vikings need to extend during training camp is cornerback Xavier Rhodes, 27, who can expect a five-year contract worth about $14 million annually.
The Vikings still are expected to have QB Sam Bradford begin the season under his current $18 million deal, and if he plays well, try to sign him to an extension in December. There’s also the franchise tag available for Bradford if needed.
Even though free-agent wideout Eric Decker signed with Tennessee after the Vikings signed free-agent wideout Michael Floyd, it’s unlikely the Vikings would have signed Decker even had he become available before Floyd. Reason: Too many questions about Decker’s health.

Guru has said he's expected to be out until midseason, thus tolling until next year. I love Teddy, but am hoping the best for the Vikes any way possible.

Yea and didn't guru mention something about if he is on PUP we have him on contract for next year????  I don't remember but wasn't there a nuance in there somewhere?

I never would put is past Teddy to beat the odds and have been out there practicing, but I think this was what most, if not all, were expecting

What odds,   there has never been a concrete timetable for his return so odds would have not been able to be set right?
I think anybody that was expecting him to be able to compete less than a year removed from a catastrophic injury like his (even without nerve damage) was being a little naive.  Just being able to move around without a brace is a far cry from rebuilding the strength and confidence that was lost in the last 11 months.

I am just saying that I wouldn't have put it by him that he would have been ready for TC

Umm based on what? I mean he could have gotten a decent contract for sure but mega-high-paying??? On his middle of the road production? I suppose had he played he MAY have played himself into a high salary contract but as of yet there is not a whole lot there to say he deserves a mega (and therefore potentially team limiting) contract.
