Done with Darnold - MAD GAINZ - 01-13-2025
Re-sign Daniel Jones for 1-yr 10 million and have him and JJ McCarthy compete next year.
Darnold can make some spectacular plays against zone coverage, but he is a "need to see it open" QB. Tight man coverage makes him hold the ball and take unnecessary sacks. Biggest difference tonight is Stafford was getting the ball out on the face of the rush. Darnold just holds it and takes sacks.

I’m not sure after this game tonight that Jones would be interested in signing.
Sure he could do better on some other team for that amount of money.

I rode the Uncle Sammy train week to week as long as I could....but no longer. Brutal showing last night with holding the ball and not seeing the field again. I've always been a McCarthy fan before he was ever drafted, excited to see him as the starter next football season. JJ is a big game, ice water in the veins kind of QB. That isn't Sam. I'll be curious to see what kind of market Darnold gets but I think its going to be limited now. And of course it won't be in Minnesota. Would love to see Danny Dimes stick around as QB2.

He was horrible again last night. This time it wasn't that he was off target so much. He held the ball too long, he was indecisive and the boneheaded fumbles returned.
There's no doubt about it. He was terrific for most of the season, but terrible in these last two games. And just like that comeback player of the year, a $40M+ contract and a potential draft pick in trade all go up in smoke.
