Can we label with different titles so we know when they’re new?

    S01E02 for example?

    Thanks Guru.

What are your thoughts on getting RB Hill in the 4th or 5th over a Hunt who will probably be gone before our second 3rd rounder?

I was all over Hunt until I watched the tapes on Hill.  Hill is much bigger (maybe too tall at 6’1 and he does run upright) then Hunt and seems to have better breakaway speed.  Hunt reminds me of a Terry Allen adept inside runner that reads blocks etc but even on the one highlight you have attached he looks like he is running with a piano on his back when in the open field.

    Thoughts?

Geoff offers good insights as always, but this time I really want to give a lot of praise to Tom. Every question was great and really appreciated the part about Treadwell, great way to use Geoffs insight to get some added value on the show.

    Wow thanks!

It’s nice to get the feedback.  I had heard that Treadwell was the 3rd WR on the Vikings board, and although Geoff said the Vikes were happy with the pick, I personally think we panicked and took him.   He is a slower, red zone leaper, and we needed a fast guy who could stretch the field to let Diiggs (and now Thielen) work underneath.

The questions on the QBs elsewhere in the league is to shake it up a bit for NFL fans.  If we go all Vikings, it will get repetitive.

Finally, the Peterson questions were there, as, until he lands, fans here are interested to see what he does.  I did not know the Pats took him through a full workout, so it seems they were seeing what was left in his 32 year old legs.

Again, I appreciate the compliments, but we are also open to suggestions for content or questions we should ask.

@minny65 I think that is where the depth of the RB class really comes into consideration. The big question with Hill is if he can be effective out of the shotgun a majority of the time. I am not entirely convinced of that and taking a back in the 3rd/early4th is likely the smarter idea. Whenever you can get “your guy” you have to feel good and I just don’t see Hill being their ideal choice.

I missed the first podcast, but tuned into this one.  Good stuff as always, Geoff.

Looking at the Vikings current roster…  most of our deficiencies seem to be on the offensive side of the ball.  Offensive line, WR, and RB.

Do you think the Vikings will place an emphasis on grabbing offensive players with their Day 2 picks?  We’re lacking playmakers with Peterson and Patterson leaving…

At the end of the day it will come down to what is available at their picks. I would assume there will be an emphasis on offense since big picture the Vikings simply need TD scoring playmakers. Last year the offensive line was a major culprit but the offense as a unit hasn’t been explosive in years and that has to change moving forward. A 50 yard TD has the same impact on a game as a pick-6. Explosive playmakers on both sides of the ball will make the team extremely dangerous. But you can’t ignore the weak links on the defense and depth moving forward because you can’t rob Peter to pay Paul.

Very nice, Geoff. I like your takes. I still think Jimmy G goes to the Browns

I love this stuff.  Thanks for sharing.

I’d really like to learn more about who the Vikings were after last year instead of Treadwell.  Was it Doctson from TCU?

I also any insights as to why the Vikings may have passed up Cody Whitehair twice when we could have used depth at the interior line positions more than the CB position.  Obviously, no one saw the worst case of the injury bug since 2000 coming, but the oline needed depth badly, as evident from last year.

    Thanks.

What are some of the traits/nuances that differentiate a RB who is better in the shotgun vs snap?  Does it mean they don’t have the acceleration/burst getting the handoff flat-footed, blocking, can’t run the screens?
