Mike Wobschall (Wobby) Returns to VikeFans.com (Interview)

Well worth your time to hear Wobby.   Perfect follow up to the Rick Spielman conversation.

BTW - this interview is 26 minutes in length - the final 3 minutes is just silent and black screen.

Just started listening, and a couple early comments:

yes, Wobby, you ARE the only one who wanted the draft insanity drug out two additional weeks.  I would've been fine having the draft in March.

I like the "Rick using Wobby as subterfuge" angle...but tied for dead last in the draft challenge?!?

Just got through the QB portion, and it kinda reinforces the "let the kid sit, bulk up, and learn" philosophy some of us have about TB.  It was good to hear what I'd read elsewhere, that our incumbent QBs have each others' backs and Wobby expects a good overall QB environment.

I like the potential he's talking about in our new kids, too....

Well worth your time to hear Wobby.   Perfect follow up to the Rick Spielman conversation.

Yes ~ Definitely well worth one's time.

Great interview - Quite informative. Thanks Mike for sharing your knowledge & insights.

Thanks Wobby and thanks Tom. Get better Tom, and come back to visit often Wobby!

Really enjoyed this. The comparison of Teddy to Wilson rings pretty true. Several pundits kept refering to Teddy as a taller Wilson...

Good stuff guys.  Thanks for the effort.  Wobby, always good to hear you "off piste" (as we used to say in the ski resort business, meaning "off the trail" of Vikings.com), and of course Tom, great job as always.  Take care of your health now.

One little insight that I think speaks to Wobby's work on Vikings.com.  He mentioned that the numbers on Vikings.com continue to increase, how it peaks during the draft (rather than in-season).

I think it goes back to creating interesting content.  Same philosophy that Tom has been able to take on his shoulders for us.

I remember when Wobby first started becoming this "video voice" of the Vikings.  I mean, honestly...who was this skinny guy on camera talking like he knew football? And if you listened, he grew more and more credible.  The interviews, the Monday Mailbag...all that content he created...he has grown into an informative, insightful, and above all, trusted internal media presence for the Vikings franchise.

I think these independent recorded conversations that are a part of OUR exclusive content cements that positioning for him at Vikings.com.

Wobby provides a surprising bit of independent, but insider insight that comes from spending every day at Winter Park.  Which in turn, again adds credibility to the content he creates for Vikings.com, IMO.  No wonder the numbers have increased there over a year ago.  Take a bow, Wobby.

Wobby...you da man!

What a great interview, thank you so much Wobby for taking the time to spend with us again.  Tom as always great job on the interview.  I am glad that the QBs are all helping each other,  any animosity between them would just make the situation worse with a new system coming in.

Mike proves that just when you think you know everything about the team and draft, there is always more information. We benefit from Mike being at Winter Park everyday and knowing these players and the staff.

Finally getting a chance to go through this. Will post more when I get through it...

I would love to hang out for a few hours and pick Wobby's brain.   always enjoy his interviews.  Thank Wob and Tom.

Very informative piece. I really appreciate his reporting and look forward to hearing what he has to say about the different camps that are now starting up! Thanks!

Wobby, thank you for your time once again! I truly enjoy every bit of your contributions to Vikings.com as well as the interviews you have provided thus far here at VikeFans. I think the thing I appreciate about you most is your knowledge coupled with your everyday guy persona. It's great to see a nice, good guy representing our team and fans. Great job and keep up the great work, Wobby!

Tom, you are VikeFans version of Wobby, and there's no other way to say it. You work tirelessly for this message board, and this place would never ever be the same without you. Thanks for all you do in bringing these awesome folks to the site for interviews. There's no other place on the web like VikeFans!

What I enjoy best about interviewing media, is that they are so close to the action on a daily basis.  They don't just watch the DLinemen, they see all the positions and the schemes.   They talk to coaches and front office people all the time and have a unique, often unfiltered perspective that you can't get from a player interview.

Before a few months ago, I only knew Mike from his work on Vikings.com.  Since, I have learned how deep his football knowledge is.  To me, it almost like talking to an assistant GM, who will reveal just a little bit more than a GM would.

He is a very welcome visitor to our site.

That was a heck of a lot of insight to take in.  Hard to imagine that Wobbie ended up in last place.

I'll go with you on subterfuge Mike.  That's the ticket.

Indeed.  Loved the info, very knowledgeable and willing to talk.  As always Tom, we appreciate the time and effort.

Haha, nice to know VikeFans was a tool Spielman used to create confusion.

Outstanding interview and thank you!

Glad to hear that Teddy is excited to be a Viking.

Ugh... to hear how our QB position was handled last year brings back all those memories...   just... yuck.  It's good to hear that all the QBs get along and are a group.

Hopefully the coaches can find that extra gear in Jerrick that has failed to show up yet.  Speed is king in the NFL and getting caught from behind by second tier college players does not bode well for the speed he will face in the NFL.

Thanks for your time Mike and Tom.  This was very informative.

Great interview!! Thanks Wobby and Tom.
