I’m not crowning Cook with anything yet, but I was thinking Faulk type skill set from day one after watching the kid in college. I guess some think he’s more “pure runner”

Man, those piss poor Viking defenses struggled with Faulk back in the day too. So did a lot of teams, but I remember some playoff games where he did quite the job on us. Rams did a really nice job isolating him on some poor, overmatched LB.

Be interesting to watch this unfold this Fall. He’s got the upside to create his own “era” imo

Lets see, we had the Bill Brown era, Foreman era, Ted Brown Era(?), Darrin Nelson, Walker, AP…

Who’d I miss? I’m sure a back or 2? There were some between Walker and AP, but I’m not sure they’re “era” caliber players. Guy’s like Chester Taylor, Alfred Anderson etc.

I think I would include Rober Smith era before Teddy Brown or Walker.

as far as who Cook gets compared to… IMO,  lets let him set that bar and see who ends up being compared to him.

Yeah Robert Smith

weve been blessed with really good RBs, wish we had more than just two “franchise” QBs in the past 50 years

I think Cook at 41 was a steal, but it’s little early for comparisons to a HOF’er with 19,000 total yards from scrimmage roll-eyes-1

I can see the comparison as far as running style, ability to catch the ball etc…

Reggie Bush is the guy in my head who I’d use right now for comparisons.  I’m going to give him some time to earn the HOF comparisons.

Lets see him make some NFL plays before comparing him to NFL players.  His “everyone’s so fast at this level” comment might be most telling for his rookie season.  I hope he has a breakout season, but I’m not counting on it.  The Vikings have other options available at that position which really should help Cook as the D will have to adjust depending on who is in the game.  Our OC should be able to help out by not calling the same plays over and over based on who is in the game too.  Should be an interesting season.
